These yummy Pinterest photos feature homemade popsicles with edible flowers. Questions are stirring so since I am a professionally trained chef, I just had to throw in my two cents on how it could have been made.
- If you don't have a farmers' market nearby, look for edible flowers in the produce section (not the florist section!) of your grocery store.
- Organic Roses, violets, daisies and nasturtiums are not only delightful to look at - they are edible. Their petals and blossoms give salads and desserts, smoothies, syrups and teas a unique and special flavor.
- Suggestion: choose flowers and roses that are labeled as edible and buy from a credible source.
Step #1 - Popsicle Containers
Choose your popsicle containers. Usually available online or in stores. Harder to find in some stores during non-summer times. Almost always available all year round online.
Step #2 Flavors
Pick your favorite juice flavors based on your personal or guest's favorites and your desired vitamin intake.
Step #3 Flower Petals
The hardest thing would be to get the flower petals not to settle in the same place. And to find organic flower petals. FYI marigolds and nasturtiums are super easy to grow and look pretty even in a container garden.
Step# 4 The liquid
For the liquid, really your options are wide open. Clear low sugar juices, or flavor-enhanced water or even fruit teas made ahead of time (and chilled) with a bit of agave syrup or honey. Cheaper and healthier than the store-bought popsicles! Add some edible glitter for a real shimmering shine.
