Pepsi's Weight Loss Soda!

The time has come when soda (pop) can help you lose weight. We are not talking about Diet Coke or even Diet Pepsi here. No this is the real deal, weight loss soda. Drink it and Pepsi claims that you will lose weight.

“Why choose between a hamburger and a slice of pizza? If you choose
Pepsi Special, you can have both!” touts Pepsi commercials in Japan promoting their new product, “Pepsi Special.”

Not yet in the US, Pepsi Special released for the first time right before the holiday season in Japan. Like others, you may be asking, why Japan? Because Japan offers more lenient beverage laws than say, New York City.

So what is the ingredient that is responsible for this exciting new product? Dextrin claimed to reduce the fat absorption by the body with the results that seem to vary depending on the company that conducted the study.

Don't get your hopes up for some miracle soda pop that will end all weight loss problems, because there are a few natural but unpleasant side effects like frequent diarrhea, gas, and bloating.
While a little dextrin won’t send you screaming for the bathroom, you may have to make a few extra pit-stops on your way home. And even after all of that, the soda still contains fructose corn syrup, which makes it just as unhealthy as the regular Pepsi. What's up Pepsi?

Kudos to taking an innovative step to bring dietary supplements to the mainstream, but we have to say keep trying!  Keep in mind that no product will ever be a cure-all, it takes effort and exercise, and yes.... self-discipline to obtain what you want, no matter what the media says!

Boot Camp: Day 4 - Top 10 Weight Loss Camps via Duke University

So it seems that depending on what you type in Google, changes the results that you receive. Of course I know this, and it is probably pretty obvious to the majority of the population at this time but it still amazes me.

Yelp Duke Diet Center Reviews

Possible searches for included fat camps, fitness retreats, boot camp, weight loss retreat, weight loss boot camp and more.  We will start this blog with a few questions to ponder over when deciding if this is the best way to invest your time, money and efforts. Feel free to comment on the blog or keep it to yourself, whatever works for you.

  1. What is the success rates of weight loss retreats / camps? Find out what their statistics are.
  2. Do weight loss retreats really work? If so why?
  3. How can a weight loss retreat help me?
Sure we are all looking for that cure all pill / activity / food and even person but the root of overeating, bulimia and the others is that their is some mental malfunction going on.  Some lack of balance on an emotional and a spiritual level.

What needs to change for you to get better? What needs to change for you to achieve your weight loss goals? Sure a retreat away from everything can help to clarify your current situation, but what about afterwards?

Today aside from the above we will focus on Duke University's Diet & Fitness Retreat, see brochure here.

Duke's Diet & Fitness Center whole approach focuses on one core principle 'YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE'. With a strong emphasis on YOU! This has been their "cornerstone of our success for more than 40 years with more than 50,000 clients."

40 years? That's a long time, and they are still thriving, it must really work. Ooohh, so there is no magic jeanie that will help me shed pounds? I have to do it?

Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition - Challenging 335-lb Woman to Change

Follow Me on Pinterest

Do you ever feel like we are all heading to those slug like morbid creatures on Wall - E? They had given up basic human activities to eat junk food 24-7 and use the computer and television to replace human contact.

So unattached from where humans had originally started as survivors, hunters and gathers, communities that cared for one another. Do you find your bottom growing larger and numbing out from everyday sensations? Are you unhappy with your weight but are too lazy to move forward into a solution?

It's funny how we get stuck in ruts. Stuck and unwilling to move into what we have to do, or until we feel so bad that we are inwardly forced to do something. What is your block? What's keeping you from advancing yourself into something you truly wish to be?

Extreme Makeover is known for helping those in need, helping "situation victims" that have got stuck in that everyday rut, usually due to situations out of their control. Now Extreme Makeover has gone weight loss. Granted I live in Southern California, one of the healthiest (or so they say) areas in the country.

I think it is due to the unearthly amount of sunshine and nice weather we have year round. I have lived in some " bad weather" locations including Key West, Georgia, Vermont and even Seattle and let me tell you weather means a lot. Although with the proper motivation, exercise can be achieved everywhere. Even if that means vhs tapes with the curtains closed.

Why change?

People can change until they take their last breath.
-Alton R. Jorgenson-

Why change if what you are doing is working? Your ability to change is your biggest advantage in life. And unlike an animal we have the ability to create and change our circumstances. And although sometimes it feels as those change is not possible, and stuck may be the word that comes into your mind frequently. And even if the solution isn't what you may think it is I am sure there is "another option" to enjoy your life and become the full wonderful person that you are.

The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind.

 -Wayne Dyer-

If you feel as though you need a change and you are in the holding pattern, try asking yourself a few questions:
  • What is stopping me from making the changes I know I need to make?
  • What do I have to loose?
  • Will this change bring improvement to my life?
  • Are there things in your life that need to happen before this change occurs? If so what?
  • Do you really want to change your weight, your life and/or your perception?
  • Is this change for you or for someone else?

These questions may help you through your weight loss journey. Becuase part of weight loss is getting in touch with your inner feelings, the ones that are normally stuffed when eating. Be aware of these new feelings and what you really want within your life. And remember if you are having a hard time expressing or dealing with these "extra" feelings seek professional help or check out free support through local groups in your area such as OA (Overaters Anonymous).

Or try out Free Online Chats and Forums:
Livestrong.com mentions that:
"The Mayo Clinic suggests that many individuals who are trying to lose weight often benefit from behavioral support. If you struggle with motivation or negative eating or lifestyle habits, such as giving in to food cravings or leading a sedentary lifestyle, a peer support group may help you stay motivated. Support groups can help you learn new strategies for long-term weight loss and give you encouragement when you experience difficulties or frustration."

Life is worth the change and although your feet may drag at first things will improve.

Be the change you want to see in the world.
